Two wreaths were laid by US Ambassador Thomas C. Hubbard and Mrs. Beth Day Romulo: one on the Camp O'Donnell Monument and the other on the Filipino Monument, right beside the American Monument.  The ceremony ended with the singing of "God Bless America", the playing of taps, and a twenty-one gun salute.

After the ceremony, the attendees crowded around the Monument.  They looked for names of men that they knew on the wall, examined the Cross, and posed for photographers.  Lunch was also served at this time, so a line formed going into a tent which had the buffet.  The event was filmed by Carlton Television, from England.
